I am a casual runner with no interest in racing. My 'course' is a loop with maybe 1.5 miles of gravel and 1.5 miles of pavement. During loop two, I will add some sprints in on both sides, perhaps totaling to 0.5 miles - both on pavement and gravel.
I have been told I overpronate by a specialist at a running store. He has recommended that I use a motion control shoe and some inserts. So I use Brooks Adrenaline 16 and Superfeet Blues. During the past year or so, I've gone through three pairs of Brooks Adrenaline 16 and one NB 860v4. Each pair usually last three months. One indicator for me that the shoes are bad is my arches will start hurting because I collapse in on them. However, the kicker for me and where I get confused is when I see where the shoes wear on the outside edge as if I was an under-pronator.
Therefore, two issues: 1) Why is the outside of my shoes wearing if I am a pronator (my arches hurt after 3 months)? and 2) Why are my shoes wearing out so quickly? Many people say their shoes last 500 miles, 6 months, but my shoes last in less than half the time.
