Good Morning. I'm 50 years old and yesterday I suffered my first calf strain since I began running. The timing couldn't be worse since I was looking forward to the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5 Miler. I believe this is a type 1 strain/tear since it's only slightly swollen and there is not any real discomfort when I walk. It's only when I attempt to run that I feel pain. I have been wearing a calf compression sleeve. Here's my question.... What should I expect regarding healing time? I understand there are a lot of variables, but can anyone who experienced a similar injury give me some insight. My goal is 35:00, and I was pacing that before the strain. Will the downtime affect my speed if I can race? Thanks in advance for any information.
